I Love Udi's
Do you see that?!?!? It is a bagel! I know that you don't think a bagel is a big deal, but this bagel is special. This is the first bagel I have had in three years! I love bagels!!! Why have I not had one in three years if I love them so much you ask? Because I had to stop eating gluten.
What is Gluten? Shauna, the Gluten-Free Girl and one of my all time foodie heroes has a great definition:
Gluten is the elastic protein in wheat, rye, and barley. Its elasticity is why French bread holds together, why angel-food cakes rise so high, and why H and H bagels in New York are so wonderfully doughy. (read more)
Now maybe you are starting to understand why the above bagel is so amazing! I admit that it isn't the same as a "gluten" bagel but it was damn good!
On the whole gluten free breads... Well, they suck! Bland, heavy bricks of dense sorry imitation of what is supposed to be bread, but resembles it in no way; taste, texture or otherwise.
Until I discovered Udi's breads and baked goods I had all but given up on bread. This bakery is my all time bakery hero and savior of many-a-meal. I can eat sandwiches again! Even my gluten eating family members like this bread, they even prefer it to gluten breads!

Because of this post, my husband and I, went to our neighborhood Whole Foods and picked up some Udi's. I would have never known about this product had you not posted it. Thanks! Will, my husband, wasn't too crazy about the raisin bread, but he liked the grain bread--he is a turkey sandwich eater. We are both on very strict gluten-free diets.
