The Business Side

I have been putting off making business cards for Upcycled by Ash. At first I didn't want too. I wanted to stick with the upcycled theme, get a stamp and make cards out of scrap paper. That still would mean designing a stamp, which I haven't gotten around to doing.

My friends and family disagreed with my not wanting to get business cards. They said I need real cards to look professional. I still thought I could pull it off though. What pushed me over the edge and made me decide to go ahead and get the cards was the number of people asking for them. My husband works in tourism and everyday people ask him about his wife and what she does. He wants to be able to give them a card. He wants me to make some money so he doesn't have to work so hard!

Last night I sat down, brainstormed, and came up with a design. I like it. I'm always worried about how it will look once it's printed but I think it should be OK. I also suck at spelling, so if you see any mistakes PLEASE let me know so I can correct them before I get my cards printed!

I will, of course, be opting for recycled paper when I order the cards. I am also still going to look into the stamp. I think having both as options is a good compromise. I know there will be many times when a handmade, stamped card will be perfectly acceptable.

  1. Looking great Ash, I can't see any spell errors. Good idea to get business cards! If you could afford to, perhaps you could send out some of your cards to celebrity agents with a letter to say what you are doing and ask to donate their jeans?!

  3. Consider putting a dash inbetween craft happy (craft-happy). Either way it's correct but you're really using those two words as "one" descriptor. I like the dash. It will add balance between the first and second lines since you have non-profit w/a dash. Are you making upcycled items or are you making items from upcycled materials? Design looks great, as usual! You're a great designer, my friend!

  4. I love it!! The only thing I'd do is sync up the comma use before 'and'. Either use it in both lines or neither.

"Supporting non-profits, saving the planet, and myself"
"handmade bags, wallets, accessories, clothing and more"

The stamp will be a great idea as well! It'll really emphasize your craftiness and desire to reduce the use of resources.

  5. I agree with the Duvals -- put a hyphen between craft and happy. Love the card! You created a great design.

  7. I think having both is such a great idea! When you pack things up you can have the pretty stamped paper but sticking in a business card or two into the box as well for people to keep or share with others that inquire about ur designs!
